Tognetti Family Winery Vineyard

Our Craft

The Vineyard

Aloise Francisco Vineyard is a family-owned and farmed vineyard located in Los Carneros, the southernmost part of Napa Valley. Originally purchased in 1964 by Jack Tognetti as a prune and pear orchard, the property was transformed into a vineyard in 1980. In 2022, Jack passed the vineyard down to his four children. Known fondly as "The Ranch" by family and friends, the property was once home to sheep, quail, and various livestock. The vineyard was named by Jack Tognetti by combining his wife's middle name, Aloise, with his, Francisco, to create Aloise Francisco vineyard.

Our 20-acre vineyard benefits from the expertise of world-renowned winemakers who have worked with our land over the years. These winemakers hand-selected the four Chardonnay clones that thrive here today. Throughout the growing season, every aspect of vineyard management—from leaf-pulling and hedging to canopy management—is done by hand, ensuring optimal airflow and sun exposure for each grape cluster.

The cool climate and fertile soils, enriched by Carneros Creek flowing into nearby San Pablo Bay, make this region the perfect environment for cultivating Chardonnay. We believe great wines are made in the vineyard, which is why we dedicate ourselves to meticulously tending to our land every season, ensuring the highest quality fruit possible.

Our Vineyard Supervisor

Francisco Cortez started working with the Tognetti family in 1988 at the young age of 18 and has now been apart of our family for over 30 years. He oversees day-to-day vineyard operations and ensures our vineyard is well taken care of throughout every season. You can find Francisco out in Aloise Francisco Vineyard winding through the rows, pruning, watering, leafing and giving each vine the attention it needs.

Small batch wines

Our single-vineyard wines showcase the unique characteristics of our 20-acre property in Carneros. By producing small batches, we ensure every bottle is tasted, approved, and crafted to reach its full potential.

We take a minimal intervention approach, allowing the grapes to shine. Each vintage begins with hand-picking at the peak of ripeness, followed by gentle crushing to extract the highest-quality juice. Our winemaker then carefully crafts the wine to highlight the natural character of the fruit, reflecting the unique terroir of our land.

Each bottle is a testament to our commitment to quality and the authentic story of our vineyard—a true expression of Napa Valley.
